Frequently asked questions

Action Tint Mobile can install window tint film almost anywhere, and have amazed not only customers but other businesses in all areas of the very good quality installation. Keeping in mind, that I have been installing window film since November 1993. Action Tint commenced the 29th of April 2004.

The window tint film for the rear screen and side windows are prepared on the outside of the glass or on a cutting table prior to its installation. The window tint film is first cut to shape with a sharp knife or scissors on the glass or with the use of templates. We then mould the window tint film with a powerful heat gun in shape to fit in one piece.

Moulding and shaping the rear window tint film will allow the window to be tinted on the inside of the rear screen in one piece avoiding splice lines or join up lines. This process will also avoid the window film from blistering or bubbling after time.

corner custom fittingMoulding and shaping the window tint film for the side wind up windows, also makes it easier for the installer to custom fit the top edge. This means the window will be tinted to the top edge of the glass with no gaps. This also helps the window tint film to not peel from the top edge. (Keep in mind that the rubber surrounding the glass from the inside needs to be in good condition). By preparing the window tint film this way, will also avoid spears. (long candle looking bubbles that appear from the sides and bottom edge of the windows).

Door trims of most vehicles are removed from the door to ensure that the washing and detailing of the glass is done to perfection prior to the fitting of the window tint film. Some vehicles only require to remove a top strip. This process also helps the installer to apply the film without creases, gaps and avoids the tinted window of peeling from the bottom edge of the glass with the friction caused by the window winding up and down. This also avoids the window tint film d'laminating. (splitting or separating layers of tint and scratch resistance)

All top edges of wind up windows are custom fitted. This means that we cut the top edge of the film with a sharp knife right to the edge of the glass on a sharp angle. This avoids gaps, and gives the window a professional looking finish.  (we do not use files to custom fit top glass edges). With this practice, we use a knife blade that is suitable. Files can easily damage the top edge of the glass and are not common practice with Action Tint. This process needs to be done correctly to avoid film catching (peeling) on the top edge while winding glass up, and will avoid the film to d'laminate.

On average, we take a good 3-4 hours from start to finish. (based on a sedan or wagon).
